Actress Michelle Williams has spoken publicly for the first time since the death of her former partner Heath Ledger saying "my heart is broken."
In a short statement: Williams said: "Please respect our need to grieve privately. My heart is broken."
The mother of Ledger's two-year-old daughter Matilda added: "I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day.
"His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up in the best memories of him."
Australian star Ledger died in New York last month at the age of 28. Results of the toxicology tests, which will determine the cause of his death, are expected in the coming days.

Despite its Canadian-sounding mention, the disco music duet Ottawan, comprised of two Caribbean-born singers Jean Patrick (born on April 6, 1954) and Annette (born on November 1, 1958), was a inspiration of the French producer squad Daniel Vangarde and Jean Kluger. Newman Has Cancer, Friend Reveals
Paul Newman is suffering from cancer, his business partner has confirmed. Writer A.E. Hotchner, who helped Newman found the Newman's Own salad dressing company in the 1980s, claims the actor told him he was diagnosed with the disease 18 months ago. Hotchner refuses to discuss what form of cancer Newman has, but claims the 83-year-old is undergoing treatment. He tells the Associated Press, "It's a form of cancer and he's dealing with it." Hotchner adds that Newman had surgery in recent years that "was certainly somewhere in the area of the lung". But he insists the Oscar winner is fighting the disease: "He's battling. He's doing all the right stuff. Paul is a fighter. He seems to be going through a good period right now." Rumours about Newman's heath problems began circulating earlier this year when a tabloid report suggested the beloved star and humanitarian had just six months to live and was under hospital supervision, but the actor laughed off the rumours, insisting his medical crisis was nothing more than treatment of athlete's foot and "hair loss". Reports have continued at a pace, culminating with the Los Angeles Times newspaper claiming Newman has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. This report prompted the actor's publicist to state Newman is "doing nicely". The representative refused to confirm or deny the cancer report.
